The Samsung Galaxy S20, Fold, Google Pixel 3, 3A, or 4 models equipped with an eSIM allow you to activate an additional cellular data plan without using a new physical SIM card.
Many of the latest Android phones support the eSIM feature. An eSIM (embedded subscriber identity module) is a small electronic chip integrated into your phone or device that performs the same function as small plastic SIM cards. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, a device that supports eSIM can be programmed and reprogrammed as needed, allowing you to switch carriers or activate and cancel service without obtaining a new SIM card each time; there is also no need to use a SIM card ejection tool to remove the old SIM card from your phone. An eSIM can hold up to five virtual SIM cards at a time. This means you can quickly switch between networks on your eSIM-compatible phone if you find yourself in an area with no signal on your usual network. It is also easier to switch to a local network when traveling, without physically inserting a local SIM card. Using an operator like UPeSIM, which connects to the local mobile network abroad, can be much more cost-effective than paying roaming fees to your regular operator. Not removing your physical SIM card from your phone also reduces the risk of losing or damaging it.
